Little Social Butterfly

I read today that by encouraging your baby to smile, you’re helping her develop self-esteem. It lets her know that her feelings are important and that she can affect her environment. It’s also important for her overall brain development.

Well, here’s to a very confident, super-brainy BABY!

When Irish Eyes are Smiling…

“your sweet liliting laughter’s like some fairy song, and your eyes sparkle bright as can be. you should laugh all the while and all other times smile, so now smile a smile for me.”

I thought I’d bring it back to the beginning…since the lyrics fit perfectly at this stage of our adventure.  Imogen’s eyes are sparkling blue right now, and she is on the brink of smiling (real smiles, not the gas induced ones that we see QUITE often)… oh and to hear a sweet baby’s laughter.   Since baby’s eyes can change colors, I thought it quite necessary to capture these baby blues…(and those LASHES!!!  mama pays good money to get thick curly lashes like those).

and incase you were wondering, since in the last post we talked about baby acne, yes we are still battling it a bit…but mama knows photoshop…sooooooo, we just took it off for the pics.

Everyone wants to meet Immi Rue!

Imogen has been attracting visitor after visitor…and everyone just falls head-over-heels in-love with her (who can blame them?  look at that face!).

first Oma and Opa came out!  they were here even before she took her first breath.  as soon as they found out she was coming, they hopped on a plane!  mom (me) was still a little out of sorts, so i am having issues finding pics from that first trip.  YAY! Daddy (adam) came through and found a pic of Oma & Opa with Immi-Rue!

then,  we had auntie mary…she was the bomb.  she cooked us meals, hung out with Immi while mom and dad napped, took our christmas card photo…and kept mom (me) from having a panic attack!!

Then, over the holidays came the Reillys!  Tutu (grandma), Boppa (grandpa), great-grandma Ruth (the Ru from Rune), and Auntie Corrie!

Boppa had a traumatic diaper changing experience.  unfortunately, i didn’t get to witness it (i was hooked up to the milker)…BUT luckily auntie corrie was there to capture the event on film (well, her camera phone).  if you look to the bottom right of the photo, you will see the projectile poo! it took a few days and some bribing before boppa was willing to change another diaper.  but he definitly loved on the mini marshmallow…

Tutu’s was a diaper changing and feeding machine!

Immi Rue loved talking to Great Grandma Ruth…she would just gaze at her all day long, coo’ing back little secret baby messages.

and auntie corrie…I think she might have been the most smitten of all!  and as you can see…Immi was pretty smitten with her too.

Immi-Rue still has a number of visitors on deck…Oma and Opa are back in a few days…and mom (me) will be sure to capture some cuddle moments. then Grandpa Gary and Grandma Anne!! YAY!  Then this summer Immi will get to meet the rest of her Babcock family (Hannie, Bubby, and Uncle TJ) IN PERSON!

one month

oh man… my little angel is one month! seriously, time needs to slow down!  we are doing all sorts of crazy things these days…kind of holding our head up, gaining a couple of arm and leg rolls (which mama loooooves to nibble on)…oh, and gaining 2 POUNDS!!!! woo hoo!!

one month stats:
weight: 8lbs, 8 ounces (29 percentile)
height: 21.5″(76 percentile)
head: 14.76″ (77 percentile)

so in other words, our girl is tall and skinny with a big ol’ noggin!

we’ve also broken out in a wee bit of baby acne, some days are better than others….BUT baby girl is still the cutest button there is.

if you look at the one month photo, you’ll see that Immi has a smile.  what you can’t see, is that she is peeing on her pretty blanket! doh!  that’ll teach mom to take nakey butt pictures!
